Who is Grammar Girl?
Deep within the podosphere resides a mysterious writer known only as Grammar Girl. Hailed as the defender of the sacred comma, orator of the mysterious grammar way, and deliverer of practical tips, she strives to restore fun to a desolate, imaginary world called Grammaria.
Grammar Girl believes that learning is fun, and the vast rules of grammar are wonderful fodder for lifelong study. She strives to be a friendly guide in the writing world. Her arch enemy is the evil Grammar Maven who inspires terror in the untrained and is neither friendly nor helpful.
Grammar Girl's Intended Audience
Grammar Girl imagines her audience is made up of the following types of people:
* English Students. Grammar Girl completed an undergraduate degree in English without ever taking a grammar class, but to be a good writer it is awfully helpful to know those grammar rules. Because the podcasts are so short, Grammar Girl envisions students listening as they walk between classes, gradually and easily absorbing information they can use throughout their lives -- whether they want to earn a living as a writer or just write better email messages.
* New English Speakers. Learning any language as an adult is hard. By speaking clearly, and providing full transcripts on the web site, the Grammar Girl podcast aims to provide a free, easy tool to help people for whom English is a second language.
* Writers. Grammar Girl finds that, although she has a good grasp of grammar rules, her writing always improves when she is actively reading a grammar book. Grammar Girl has become a huge fan of podcasts, and she decided to provide a short audio show in the style of the grammar books that she loves so much.
* Teachers. In many ways, teachers are a subset of writers. For example, even if they don't teach English, they prepare lesson plans and tests, and grade student essays. As role models for students, it is important that teachers use correct grammar; yet, teachers are always pressed for time. The Grammar Girl podcast provides a quick, easy way for teachers to brush up on grammar (e.g., by listening during their commute). In addition, the Grammar Girl podcast is a tool that teachers can recommend to students who are auditory learners.
* Word Junkies. There are some people who just love words, grammar, and language despite the fact that they aren't active writers. Grammar Girl hopes that the same people who enjoy The Word Nerds, Podictionary, and similar podcasts will enjoy this show.
* The Intellectually Curious. There are some people (like Grammar Girl) who simply love to learn. The Grammar Girl podcast provides an efficient way to learn new things that you can immediately use in your daily life.

I know, I know. I'm turning into such a big, big, big geek. I am proud of it, though! Hahaha! Anyway, I absolutely adore this Podcas. I am certainly NOT a Grammar Nazi nor am I claiming to be particularly good in terms of writing, talking, grammar and the like. However, I've always been fond [for the lack of a better word...] of language, English, grammar, and everything else along the same line.
Moving on, even if you're not a Grammar Geek like me; I have a feeling that you'll enjoy these Podcasts because most of the students will face these grammatical questions that our Microsoft Word will not be able to correct or even notice. These very short tips will improve your writing. The Podcasts are really informative, too!
You can send in voice mails and emails that could possibly be included in the upcoming Podcasts as well.
Enjoy! [Such irony since I speak of Grammar-related Podcasts! Hahaha :P]
